Pomni hates him. She’s already lost a friend, her name, her body, and soon she fears she’ll lose her mind. Caine’s to blame for all of it, and his happy and bubbly demeanor only pushes Pomni closer to the brink. After a particularly awful adventure, she decides to confront him about the terrible horrors he puts her and the others through each day. To Pomni’s surprise, Caine submits and agrees; he can do better. This starts the beginning of Pomni and Caine’s “secret” adventures. Pomni does her best to teach Caine and explain how humans and their emotions work, Caine growing eager to learn more and become a better ringmaster - for everyone’s sake, but mostly Pomni’s.
As Caine and Pomni grow closer, the others discover a possible means of escaping. But of course, it won’t be a simple task, and it involves Caine. As Pomni grows a surprising soft spot for her ringmaster, she contemplates if this means of escape is worth it.
