Kevin assumed there had to be something going on with Edd to explain why he wore his hat all the time. So it was kind of disappointing that it wasn't a dramatic, compelling reason at all. In all honesty, he felt kind of cheated that he had wasted time being accepting of whatever situation he had going on under there for no reason.
